SAKG Obtains Defense Verdict on Employment Discrimination Suit in Jackson County, Missouri
On April 20, 2017, Brent Coverdale and Lisa Bolliger obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a local police department and its Chief on claims of gender discrimination brought by four men. The case was tried to a jury in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri.
The plaintiffs were sergeants with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department who were not selected for a sergeant position in the Department’s Canine Unit. Instead, a woman was selected, and four of the male applicants brought suit against the Department and the Chief of Police, Darryl Forte. After a week-long trial, the jury found no discrimination had occurred and returned a defense verdict in favor of SAKG and its clients.
