SAKG Team Achieves $11 Million Wrongful Death Verdict
SAKG won more than $11 million for a mother whose 32-year-old son died in a rental house fire. The house had inadequate smoke alarms and had not been professionally inspected before being purchased five months prior to the fire. SAKG’s expert witnesses showed the cause was electrical failure and that it began in ceiling space between the top and bottom floors of the 110-year-old house. The jury awarded $3,013,792.94 in compensatory damages and $8,095,625.00 in punitive damages. The trial team included attorneys Scott Ast and Paula Brown and paralegal Karil Watkins.
